Metallica doubted Big 4 shows

Slayer member Tom Arava has appeared there were so some Big 4 shows because Metallica weren't sure the package would be successful.

At the Sonisphere festival Metallica,
Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax are shared the stage for first time in our life. The show in Bulgaria was shown in cinemas worldwide and has now been released on DVD.

But many fans in the US, UK and elsewhere were disappointed not to get the opportunity to watch the Big 4 live for themselves.

Arava tells Noisecreep,
"The shows were entirely scheduled and decided on by Metallica. It was their decision, When it first came together a journalist asked James Hetfield about the tour, and he said Metallica weren't really sure about how well it would do, and they'd have to do a little bit more homework on it. I'm sitting there thinking,

'If you asked me that question I'd say let's do a worldwide tour.
It would blow the doors open everywhere – and you’re telling me Metallica have to sit there and think about it? It was a given. And it was huge. It blew away all expectations – we did ten shows and each time it was 90,000-plus. We played to nearly two million people in those ten days and every show was amazing. You’re up there with the best bands and it brings out the best in everybody.”
